MSU Pesticide Safety Education Program is offering training seminars covering the material from the Pesticide Applicator Core Training Manual, and the Category 3B manual, Ornamental Pest Management. in several convenient locations around Michigan.

Programs will be presented in a four-hour classroom format with one day covering Core Training Manual material, and one day covering Ornamental Category 3B manual material.

These seminars will benefit individuals seeking initial pesticide applicator certification by exam and those wanting to renew their certification by seminar credit. ***THE EXAM IS NOT BEING OFFERED AT THESE SEMINARS. IF YOU WISH TO REGISTER TO TAKE AN EXAM, YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE'S CERTIFICATION EXAM SCHEDULE IN PDF BY CLICKING HERE.*** The seminars will help prepare you for the exam.

Attendees who are already certified will receive either two Commerical or Private Core credits or two Category 3B credits at each 4-hour session.

The instructor for these courses is Mr. John Stone, Michigan Certified Nurseryman and Landscape Management Specialist. John is a certified applicator with 25 years IPM experience and an Assistant Instructor for the MSU Institute of Agriculture Technology’s Lawn & Landscape Management program in Grand Rapids.

The cost for the program is $75 for one session or $100 for both sessions offered at a particular location. The cost includes lunch.

Course Descriptions:

Pesticide Applicator Core Manual Review
This training session will provide an extensive review of information from the Pesticide Applicator Core Training Manual. Topics include pest management principles, laws and regulations, pesticide labeling, pesticide safety, and environmental protection. The session will help individuals wanting to obtain their initial pesticide applicator certification by taking the pesticide applicator core exam and will also help applicators wanting to renew their certification by seminar credit. Certified applicators will receive 2 core credits for the 4-hour session.

Category 3B, Ornamental Pest Management Review
This training session will review information for the Category 3B manual, Ornamental Pest Management. Topics include pest management and application techniques, pesticide safety, and biology and management of pests on ornamentals. The session will help individuals wanting to obtain their initial pesticide applicator certification by taking the pesticide applicator Category 3B exam and will also help applicators wanting to review their 3B certification by seminar credit. Certified applicators will receive 2 Category 3B credits for the 4-hour session.

Registration and Cancellation Policy
Advance registration is required. Registration forms must be postmarked at least one week before the date of the seminar you plan to attend.

Cancellations will be refunded at 80% of cost up to one week before seminars. No refunds after this time.
