The State of Michigan Regulation 636 Pesticide Applicators, Rule 7.4 gives MDA the authority to require certified pesticide applicator renewal by seminar attendance, examination, or both. In response to the regulation, MDA and MSUE have developed a comprehensive core seminar that offers up-to-date information and a chance to renew core credentials in one day. The seminar consists of commercial core information and updates on federal and state pesticide laws and regulations and pesticide application methods. Topics include pest management, federal and state pesticide laws, labels, formulations, hazards, personal protective equipment (PPE), pesticides in the environment, transportation, storage and security, emergency response, pesticide application planning and procedures, professional conduct, drift management plans, and managing excess pesticide. This comprehensive
commercial core training program will provide:

Enhanced applicator competency.

Improved safety practices and quality of services. ·
Up-to-date information on pesticide regulations and laws. ·
Recertification on commercial core in one day. At the end of the seminar, a short quiz (20 questions) based on information covered in the seminar will be given. After completing the quiz, applicators will receive 8 credits in commercial or private core.
