Self-Study Manual

This self-study manual is designed to prepare qualified individuals to become trainers of registered technicians. An approved trainer of registered technicians shall be:

  1. a certified applicator
  2. with a minimum of two years experience (or equivalent) and shall have
  3. successfully completed the Approved Trainer Self-Study Program and exam.

These may be completed in any order but all must be completed and category-specific training programs approved by the Michigan Department of Agriculture before category-specific instruction may begin.

This manual has eight parts on subjects such as Michigan pesticide certification laws and regulatins, required topics for category-specific training, and teaching techniques. After reading the manual, a written exam (25 short answer questions) must be scheduled and completed at your regional Michigan Department of Agriculture Office.

The complete text of this manual is also available free by accessing the chapters below in PDF format. You can download and read these with Adobe's Acrobat Reader and may need to download and install a newer version.
